Frequently Asked Questions
One of the best things about the Bob Ross method is that it is great for beginners! And with a Certified Ross Instructor, you CAN do this! You'll learn the techniques that Bob used on his television show "The Joy of Painting", and create your own unique painting!
Certified Ross Instructors have taken special instruction under the tutelage of Teacher Trainers certified by Bob Ross Incorporated. They are officially certified by Bob Ross Incorporated to teach Bob Ross' wet-on-wet oil painting method. You can be confident that a CRI is teaching Bob Ross' wet-on-wet oil painting method in the way Bob Ross himself intended.
Due to the specialized nature of materials that Bob Ross used in his method, all materials (brushes, paint, and easels) are provided by your Certified Ross Instructor. You'll get the best results if you use official Bob Ross Materials.
Note that canvas is usually provided, but check during registration to confirm. Some locations (like art stores) do require a canvas purchased at their location.

If you have Bob Ross materials, most classes will utilize the basics of a 2-inch brush, a 1-inch Landscape Brush, a Fan Brush, a Liner Brush, and a Palette Knife.
You won't need materials for our "Paint Like Bob" classes, as we provide what's needed, but we do understand that you may want your own materials at home to keep applying what you've learned in class! If you're taking classes from us (online or in person), ask us about supplies... we can make some special arrangements for our students!
While some local art stores do have Bob Ross materials, you can find actual materials at BobRoss.com and other online retailers like Amazon. Be sure to look for official Bob Ross products!
